Parents for Change

I'm writing this blog for all of my friends, family and colleagues who want to jump into the tech-sphere: blogs, text messaging, message boards, etc. but are totally lost on the shorthand. The fact is that if you want to have a presence in these areas, you have to understand the crazy acronyms and shorthand that are prevalent  (and trust me fellow parents, our children are heading there so we best follow, if for no other reason than to keep an eye on them!)

Here is some of the common techie shorthand I use and read on a daily basis. You can also view a more comprehesive list here.

DH: Darling/Dear Husband

DW: Darling/Dear Wife

DS: Darling/Dear Son

DD: Darling/Dear Daughter

(i'm not sure what you call your family if you don't consider them 'dear'! Actually, I do know...keep reading)

 OM: Old Man (husband, boyfriend, etc.)

OL: Old Lady (wife, girlfriend, etc.)

BRB: Be Right Back

GTG: Got to Go

BTW: By the Way

OT: Off Topic

LOL: Laughing Out Loud

ROTFLOL: Rolling on the Floor, Laughing out Loud

IMO: In My Opinion

LMK: Let Me Know

JTLYK: Just to Let You Know

LY: Love Ya

JK: Just Kidding

DIY: Do It Yourself

PM: Private Message

RT: Retweet (specific to Twitter)

FB: Facebook

OMG: Oh My Gosh/God

WTF: Who or What the F***

B/C: Because

*G* giggle or grin

*H* hug

*K* kiss

*S* sob

*W* wink 

The following is specific to working with parents

AP: Attachment Parenting

CF: Child Free

MW: Midwife

PG: Pregnant

BF: Breastfeeding

CD: Cloth Diapering

SAHM: Stay at Home Mom

WAHM: Work at Home Mom

TTC: Trying to Concieve

HB: Homebirth

HS: Homeschool
